We had the pleasure of speaking with Sasha Safonova, a renowned stylist, who shared her expertise on creating the perfect festive look.
What is the most important aspect of a stylist’s work during the New Year holidays?
Sasha believes that creating a festive atmosphere is key. “We want the client to feel the holiday spirit from the moment they step in. In the studio, we always create a festive atmosphere with New Year music playing and the scent of tangerines and gingerbread cookies filling the air,” she says.
What made 2024 memorable for you professionally?
According to Sasha, the main trend of 2024 was naturalness. “Girls are not trying to change themselves. They choose something light and carefree, like soft, beautiful waves. This also applies to coloring, with a preference for natural shades. I am very pleased with this. After all, the main trend in all ages is self-love,” she explains.
What hairstyles will be trendy in 2025?
Sasha predicts that the fashion for naturalness and simplicity will continue in 2025. “Smooth hairstyles, wet effects, cold waves, large waves, as well as careless textures will be in the lead,” she says.
For the holiday, it is better to choose something with a little volume or do without it—this rule applies to both loose and tied hair. Large volumes are not relevant now. But multilayered cascade haircuts, as well as bangs, are back in fashion.
Sasha advises girls with dark hair to look at smooth shapes and large waves: “Dark hair in smooth hairstyles looks luxurious and expensive.” For blondes, she recommends something textured, light, and airy. On short hairstyles or bobs, a broken texture looks advantageous: this hairstyle does not take away length, but only adds style.
Accessories are also currently relevant. Voluminous invisibles, rhinestones, braids made of leather cords, or chains of rhinestones—all this will help create a fashionable and stylish image! You can also supplement your hairstyle with glitter or foil. “This night you can and should shine! Don’t be afraid of this!” Sasha encourages.
How is the perfect festive image created?
Sasha explains that they always work in tandem with a makeup artist to create the perfect look. “It is very important to listen to the client’s request. It is important to find out: does the woman plan to change her image beyond recognition or, on the contrary, remain herself, harmoniously emphasizing her beauty,” she says.
Interestingly, many clients choose brighter and more effective images for the New Year’s corporate party.
What will help keep the hairstyle all New Year’s night?
If you plan to let loose on New Year’s Eve, Sasha advises tying your hair up. “A high smooth tail or a stylish glossy knot will look effective all night. If you decided to meet the holiday with loose hair, then I recommend collecting the front strands—this will increase the resistance. Resistance depends not only on the master but also on you: try to touch your hair less,” she suggests.

Igor believes that the main thing for a stylist during these days is to stay on schedule and accommodate all clients.
What made 2024 memorable for you?
According to Igor, the hairstyles of 2024 were marked by their “Instagrammability”: those that were not suitable for everyday life were popular. For example, hairstyles with deliberately voluminous waves were especially fashionable. As for makeup, minimalism was noted.
What hairstyles will be trendy in 2025?
Igor predicts that the trends of 2025 will largely depend on the general mood. “If healthy optimism is preserved in the world, then we will see more brightness and festivity in the images. And on New Year’s Eve, for any hair length, it is better to maintain naturalness and not abuse styling,” he says.
How is the perfect festive image created?
Igor emphasizes the importance of following all the steps correctly. “You should wash your hair immediately before styling. Be sure to use a hair conditioner to make combing easier. The conditioner should be applied only to the ends of the hair in a small amount so as not to lose volume at the roots and not leave a greasy shine,” he advises.
Before drying, Igor recommends not forgetting about heat protectant spray, as well as spray for root volume. The styling is done using brushing according to the shape of the haircut. Then the necessary texture is created using a curling iron. The final touch can be hairpins and braiding elements, after which the entire structure is fixed with extra-strong hold hairspray.
Traditionally, hair styling is done after makeup. As for color combinations, the hairstyle has the right to be decorative.
