Prince William and Kate Middleton’s New Home Hit by Nearby Closures
The Prince and Princess of Wales are starting 2026 in their new home, Forest Lodge, after moving in at the end of last year. Their grand property is located within Windsor Great Park, a 5,000-acre expanse of land that boasts an array of family-friendly facilities. However, in January, these much-loved features will be closed.
Park Closures in January
According to an email update sent by the park, the closures are outlined as follows:
- The Savill Garden Visitor Centre
- The Savill Garden
- The Adventure Play area
- The Savill Garden Kitchen and Gallery Café
- The Virginia Water Gift Shop will all be closed from January 5 to January 12.
Meanwhile, the Windsor Farm Shop and Windsor Farm Shop Café will be closed between January 5 and January 7, and the Gallery Café inside the Savill Garden Visitor Centre will be closed from January 5 until January 16.
A Fresh Start for the Wales Family
Forest Lodge, formerly known as Holly Grove in Windsor Great Park, is an impressive estate that serves as an extended backyard for the couple and their children. The Wales family is looking forward to making new memories in their vast eight-bedroom home, leaving behind some unhappy memories from their time at Adelaide Cottage.
Rent and Renovations
The royal couple is leasing Forest Lodge from the Crown Estate and will pay market rate rent for the property. In addition to the monthly rent, Kate and William are covering the renovation costs themselves. Planning applications for minor external renovations and internal alterations were lodged with the local council in June. The changes inside appear to be an ongoing project, with Princess Kate revealing during a royal engagement that she was planning new interiors in 2026.
