Anna Bond’s Alphabet: A Journey Through Life and Love
Anna Bond’s Alphabet: A Journey Through Life and Love
Renowned Belarusian blogger Anna Bond shares her favorite spots in Minsk, her love for cafeterias, work, and the comfort of home.
The City
Minsk, our beautiful city, has undergone remarkable transformations. Many criticize the new constructions, but I believe every era has its charm. We should focus on improving ourselves rather than complaining about the city’s changes. I adore Karl Marx Street and the Drozdy neighborhood. My windows overlook Drozdy and Arena City. Initially, I was upset about the view being spoiled, but now I appreciate the convenience of having shops nearby. Drozdy is like a tranquil oasis amidst the bustling city.
Love
Love is an essential feeling, but it can also bring pain and destruction. It’s crucial to handle this emotion with care. I recommend watching the film “Love” by Gaspar NoĆ©, a thought-provoking exploration of this complex emotion.
Mother
My beloved mother, may she always be happy! She recently joined Instagram and keeps an eye on my posts. She often scolds me for my language, but I’ve become more reserved since my son, Ignat, and his friends started following me. My mother’s strictness shaped me into who I am today. Despite my rebellious past, her guidance kept me on the right path.
People
I enjoy working with ordinary people. In my reports, I ask questions that I myself would like to hear answered. Traveling to different regions, I see the real lives of our people. It’s not always cheerful, but I hope for more freedom and opportunities for everyone. Many young people move to Minsk, leaving their villages behind.
Father
My father is the number one man in my life. We had an incredible bond during my childhood. I fondly remember him taking me to the Storozhevsky market for fish. He worked as a driver, and I dreamed of having a car with the same license plate as his truck. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the exact number, but I still hope to one day. My father’s life had many ups and downs, but he eventually overcame his struggles.
Work
This year has been very productive for me. I collaborated with BATE, a football club, and gained a new audience. I also tried my hand at radio and worked on a project with a major internet portal. It’s rewarding to see a woman earning her own money. In our family, my husband and I have always shared our earnings.
Cafeteria
I love cafeterias! Growing up in the Soviet era, I have a soft spot for steamed cutlets and mashed potatoes. During my pregnancy, I frequently visited cafeterias. Nowadays, people prefer cafes, but I still enjoy the simplicity and affordability of cafeterias. I plan to visit the GUM cafeteria and perhaps create a report about it.
Creativity
Everyone should embrace creativity in all aspects of life. Even a housewife can find ways to be creative at home. The internet offers endless inspiration. I believe everyone has some creative potential, nurtured since childhood through singing, dancing, and crafting.
Honesty
Honesty is a rare quality. It’s essential to be truthful to oneself first. Self-deception can be toxic. I always speak my mind and strive to be honest. It’s important to tell people the truth, even if it’s not what they want to hear.
Home
I don’t believe in the saying “home is where the heart is.” Routine can wear down love and passion. I’ve always managed my household without help, but lately, my younger sister has been assisting me due to my busy schedule. I’m selective about who I invite into my home, as it’s my sanctuary.
