Zlata Glotova: A Life Steeped in Theater and Magic

Zlata Glotova, the creative force behind the interactive theater “Busy” for the youngest audiences, is not just an actress and director but also a mother of two girls. She firmly believes in miracles, magic, and Santa Claus, but above all, Zlata loves theater. Whether it’s the National Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, where her husband Vladimir Glotov performs, or the small, intimate, and lively baby theater “Busy,” where Zlata herself acts, creates performances, writes songs, and plays with children.

Unique Family Traditions

Zlata’s family is unique, with everyone deeply involved in theater. Their holiday preparations are a testament to their creativity and love for the festive season. The family starts preparing for the New Year on December 15th, when everyone gathers to share ideas, draw, and dream about how their apartment will look. Each year, they choose a different theme for their decorations. For instance, one year they focused on decorating the windows, while last year they adorned the shelves with diode lamps, an idea suggested by the children.

Creating Magical Spaces

Last year, the family created an ice cave in the children’s room, complete with icicles and a white bear, all illuminated with cold lamps. The girls loved playing there and even hosted tea parties for their friends. They also painted an acrylic fake fireplace on the wall, which has remained a beloved feature. This year, they plan to decorate with pine cones, aiming for a rustic style.

Advent Calendars and Family Fun

The family also enjoys advent calendars, which they incorporate into their holiday preparations. Zlata uses the advent calendars from her “Busy” project, ensuring that her children are fully immersed in the holiday spirit. This year, the “Busy” project has prepared three advent calendars: one for the youngest children (2.5-6 years) called “Once Upon a Time There Was a Fox,” another for children who can read and count called “A Tangled Detective Story,” and a special one for adults, designed to help them find a minute each day to reflect and appreciate the magic around them.

Belief in Magic and Santa Claus

Zlata’s children strongly believe in magic and fairies, despite hearing otherwise at school. The family supports this belief, emphasizing that there are things beyond our understanding that are still real. They write letters to Santa Claus and eagerly await his gifts. The family has a tradition of exchanging books and making wishes under the chimes of the clock on New Year’s Eve. They also believe that the first person to wake up on New Year’s Day will be the luckiest for the year.

Theater and New Year Celebrations

With the abundance of New Year performances, Zlata prefers to take her girls to theater productions adapted for children. They also attend the theatrical Christmas tree at the Russian Theater, an event organized for the children of actors. This year, they plan to celebrate “Kaladki,” a traditional folk holiday, to give the girls a sense of the cultural heritage.

Favorite Theaters

Despite growing up in an acting family, Zlata’s daughters are somewhat cautious about theater. They prefer familiar performances and can be scared by loud noises and unknown characters. Therefore, the family sticks to tried-and-true shows, ensuring that the girls enjoy their theatrical experiences.
