Baronessa: People Inspire Me, No Matter the City or Country

One of the most vibrant and charismatic figures in the Belarusian show business, Baronessa (Marina Baranovskaya), shared her journey in an interview with “City of Women.” She discussed her early days working in a restaurant, her move to Minsk, and how she copes with burnout.

From Restaurant Performances to Stardom

Baronessa’s career began in Vitebsk, where she performed in a restaurant. This challenging environment taught her resilience and adaptability. “It wasn’t just about performing,” she says. “It was about creating a celebration for the audience, which is the most important thing.”

Her journey started with numerous vocal competitions. “Working in a restaurant was one of my little dreams,” she recalls. “A friend was moving to Minsk, and a position opened up. I auditioned and got the job, which I held for almost eight years. I don’t regret a single moment; it gave me confidence and a sense of purpose.”

A Lifelong Love for Music

Marina’s passion for music began in childhood. “I’ve always been artistic; it’s in my blood,” she shares. “I remember asking my parents for a piano when I was very young. At six, I started music school, and from there, my life revolved around music.”

She attended a music university, participated in various competitions, and eventually made her way to the big stage. “Music has been with me since childhood and will stay with me for life,” she affirms.

Breaking into the Big Scene

For young artists from small towns, breaking into the mainstream can be challenging. Baronessa advises, “Participating in music shows and competitions is crucial. It hones your skills and increases your visibility. Each performance makes you more confident, and with each appearance, you increase your chances of being noticed by the right people.”

She emphasizes the importance of self-belief and hard work. “Believe in yourself, your abilities, and work hard. That’s the key to success.”

Staying Positive and Overcoming Burnout

Known for her bright images and cheerful songs, Baronessa is indeed a positive person. However, she admits to experiencing burnout. “I’m a lively person, but being around people constantly and giving out positive energy can be draining,” she says. “I recharge at home, in solitude, sometimes with a good book.”

She agrees with the notion that genius is 5% talent and 95% hard work. “You might have a natural talent, but without constant effort, it won’t shine,” she explains.

Life in Minsk and Future Plans

Recently, Baronessa moved to Minsk and feels comfortable there. “It doesn’t matter which city or country; it’s the people who inspire me,” she says. “My team and the recognition I get from fans on the street motivate me.”

She is active on social media and handles hate with grace. “There’s some hate, but not much. I don’t let negativity affect me,” she states. “I don’t take it personally.”

Looking ahead, Baronessa doesn’t have a strict plan but follows her intuition. “My main goal is to continue creating music, recording new songs, performing, and reaching audiences beyond Belarus,” she shares.

Top 5 Ways to Recharge

Baronessa shares her top five ways to relax and recharge:

  • Chilling at home with movies, series, and snacks.
  • Spending time with friends in lively settings or in nature.
  • Playing board games and intellectual games.
  • Being with family and loved ones.
