Ryan Moloney’s Harrowing Health Scare: A Close Call on Celebrity SAS
Ryan Moloney’s Health Crisis During Celebrity SAS Filming
Ryan Moloney, beloved for his role in Neighbours, recently opened up about a terrifying health scare that occurred during the filming of Channel 4’s reality series, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, in North Africa. In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, the 46-year-old actor revealed that he was diagnosed with a hernia just weeks after wrapping up filming.
A Shocking Discovery
Moloney shared that doctors discovered a “giant hole” in his stomach, with part of his stomach contents pushed up beneath his left lung. This condition, known as a hiatal hernia, happens when part of the stomach bulges into the chest cavity. Medical professionals emphasized the seriousness of his condition, stating that he was lucky to have avoided complications during the physically grueling show.
“The doctors were clear that I needed surgery right away,” Moloney recounted. “They stressed how fortunate I was that nothing disastrous happened during the filming, as such conditions can lead to severe complications.”
Support from Co-Stars
Dani Dyer, a fellow contestant on the show, backed up Moloney’s account, describing the situation as “awful.” The revelation of Moloney’s health scare has highlighted the physical and mental strain that such intense reality shows can put on participants.
Motivations for Joining Celebrity SAS
Moloney’s decision to join Celebrity SAS was fueled by a desire for self-discovery and personal challenge. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he explained. “The show offers a unique chance to push yourself to the limits and uncover hidden strengths and weaknesses.”
Leadership and Frustration
During his time on the show, Moloney took on a leadership role, encouraging his fellow contestants to stick to the strict rules set by Chief Instructor Billy Billingham MBE and his team. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and following guidelines to avoid penalties and potential elimination.
“I wanted everyone to perform at their best and endure the challenges for as long as possible,” Moloney stated. “However, I often felt frustrated because I felt like I was supporting everyone else, but there wasn’t much reciprocity.”
