According to palace insiders, the Princess of Wales shares her husband William’s zeal for “impactful change”. In a recent report by The Times, Kate Mansey underscores Kate’s dedication to fostering genuine and enduring transformation. Mansey posits that as Queen, Kate might be “more ambitious and daring than any of us realize”.
Early Years: A Cause Dear to Her Heart
Princess Kate’s foremost cause is the Early Years, concentrating on children under five. She consistently underscores how a person’s childhood profoundly influences their adult life. A Kensington Palace representative once described the Early Years as the “golden thread” woven throughout the Princess’ professional life.
A Queen ‘Who Hears Her People’
Envisioning her future role as Queen, Mansey conversed with Giovanna Fletcher, host of the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast. Giovanna, who interviewed the Princess in 2020, was present at an engagement in November 2025 when Kate delivered a keynote address. The Princess stressed how the “love we experience in our formative years fundamentally molds who we become and how we flourish as adults”.
“She’s brimming with compassion,” Giovanna told The Times. “I believe she’ll be a Queen who truly listens, who engages, who’s acutely aware of current affairs – akin to the King with the King’s Trust. I think [the Prince and Princess of Wales] are entering this role with their eyes wide open. I don’t sense an ‘us vs them’ mentality. We must collaborate as a society to effect change, and I think they comprehend this. They grasp the nuances. And so, for this reason, I think it will be a welcome shift.”
Change is on William’s Docket
Earlier in October, William granted one of his most candid interviews to date, asserting that change is firmly on his agenda. Speaking to Eugene Levy in Windsor for the Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveller, the future King stated: “I think it’s fair to say that change is on my docket. Change for the better, and I welcome that; I relish that change. I don’t fear it; that’s the aspect that invigorates me, the prospect of being able to instigate some change. Not overly radical, but changes that I believe need to transpire.”
William clarified that he wasn’t aiming to dismantle the royal rulebook but added: “I think if you’re not vigilant, history can be a real burden and an anchor around you, and you can feel stifled by it and constrained by it excessively. There are moments when you examine tradition and ponder, is that still relevant today? Is that still the right course of action? Are we still making the most impact we could be? So I like to question things; that’s what I’m truly getting at.”
