Julia Roberts’ IVF Twins: Growing Up in the Spotlight
Julia Roberts’ Journey with Her IVF Twins
Here’s a paradox: the more famous a person is, the less they care about their social media, and the more their fans crave updates. For instance, Elon Musk builds space rockets but takes mirror selfies in poor lighting, while Julia Roberts could hire top glossy photographers but still posts old archival pictures.
The Rare Glimpse of Roberts’ Twins
We cherish every pixelated snapshot of Roberts’ twins, Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter, from the movie ‘Pretty Woman.’ A rare photo surfaced in late 2025 when the Hollywood star celebrated her children’s birthday. Not long ago, we struggled to tell Finn and his younger brother Henry apart in Julia’s family photos. Now, they’re all star teenagers.
Hazel’s Cannes Debut
The revelation came when Hazel walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021 with her father, Daniel Moder. It was a sensation; paparazzi and journalists had rarely seen the grown-up Roberts heiress, making her appearance a significant event. She’s a beauty, too! Quite modest and disciplined, as one would expect. Despite rumors about Julia’s difficult character and an impending second divorce, the couple has been happily together for 20 years, defying all gossip. However, those close to the actress admit that it’s best to play by her rules in her home.
Julia Roberts: A Mother at 37
Julia became a mother at 37, an age she considered perfect for motherhood. “I’ve earned this time with my children,” she said on a talk show. “For a while, the kids didn’t even know I had a job because I was always at home.”
Pioneering IVF in Hollywood
Roberts was one of the first Hollywood moms to opt for IVF. After her successful experience, many Beverly Hills celebrities followed suit. When producer Mike Nichols visited his colleague and friend, he was always surprised to see toys scattered around the house from the children’s playful antics, with a happy Julia at the center of it all. “There was no one to clean up after them or watch the kids, just her,” the producer recounted.
Raising Independent Children
Julia instilled independence in her children from an early age. They learned to clear the table and say “Thank you” after meals. Making their beds and tidying their rooms were non-negotiable chores. Some celebrity insiders criticized Julia’s strictness, but her methods were just the beginning.
Screen Time and Social Media Restrictions
After filming “Ben is Back,” where she played the mother of a teenage drug addict, Julia revised her stance on social media and television. She implemented a list of channels that were off-limits at home and prohibited her children from having online accounts until they were older and had a genuine need for them.
“The restrictions are temporary. My kids are still young, and I don’t see how social media can benefit them,” Julia reasoned. Her decision bore fruit. When Hazel reduced her TV time, she became interested in charity work. At just 12 years old, she persuaded her mother to help her cut her hair to donate to children with cancer. Julia was moved to tears; her strictness had paid off, teaching her children to focus on others rather than themselves.
Family Values and Quality Time
Hazel and Phinnaeus also participated in the Women’s March in Washington. The experience was unexpected but important for Julia, who lost her father at nine and never got to enjoy his warmth. Therefore, she strives to involve her children in her work and charitable missions to spend as much time with them as possible.
To protect her children from negative influences, Julia and Daniel adjusted their schedules so that Hazel and Phinnaeus were never home alone. Imagine coming home from school to find your dad there, or pretending to be sick and staying in your room with your mom. Although the latter is unlikely to work in the ‘Pretty Woman’ household, as such antics are not tolerated.
Discipline and Punishment
When her children were very young, Julia established a clear punishment system. Don’t think of spanking or anything similar; Julia is much more liberal. If her sons or daughter misbehave, she takes them into a separate room and gives them a long, strict, and monotonous lecture. The idea is that the stern talk itself is the punishment. Moreover, nothing goes unnoticed; even minor missteps are strictly discussed.
Fame and Family Life
Julia rarely discusses her popularity with Hazel and Phinnaeus. When they were a bit older and discovered their mother was a Hollywood celebrity, they would jump around her, asking, “Mom, are you more popular than Taylor Swift?” The twins adore the singer, so Julia once took them to her concert. Swift knew about this and invited the children on stage. “It was the best day of their lives,” Julia laughed. After that, they believed their mother could work miracles, open any door, and get them on stage with any celebrity.
Julia dreams that her twins grow up not as star kids, but as Hazel and Phinnaeus, known for their own accomplishments. She says, “They probably won’t understand what my popularity meant when they grow up.”
“I realize this when I come home from an important event, dressed in a gown, diamonds, and heels, and the first thing I hear is, ‘Mom, what’s there to eat?'” Julia smiles.
