Jessie Buckley’s Rising Stardom
Jessie Buckley is undoubtedly the it-girl of the 2026 award season. The 36-year-old Irish actress recently won a Critics’ Choice Award for her portrayal of William Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes, in Hamnet, alongside fellow Irish star Paul Mescal. Her role in the Chloe Zhao film has also earned her an Oscar nomination, a well-deserved accolade for her emotional performance.
Keeping Her Personal Life Private
Despite her soaring fame in Hollywood, Jessie keeps her personal life with her four-month-old daughter and husband largely out of the spotlight. However, in a recent interview with Vogue, the Wicked Little Letters star made a rare comment about her husband, Freddie, whom she secretly married in 2023.
Jessie explained that maintaining her husband’s anonymity is crucial due to his profession. She added that while he won’t be making any red carpet appearances soon, he has been enjoying the recent glamorous events promoting Hamnet, saying, “He’s having a ball eating canapés.”
Freddie’s Career and Their Relationship
Regarding Freddie’s career, Jessie revealed on Jessie Ware’s podcast, Table Manners, that he works in mental health. “He’s working in mental health. He’s gone back to university to work in mental health,” she shared.
Jessie also disclosed that they met on a blind date set up by a music executive who worked with her on Wild Rose. Their first date involved a walk along Regent’s Canal followed by drinks at The Dove on Broadway Market.
Their Private Wedding
Jessie and Freddie planned their low-key wedding in just seven weeks. Despite tying the knot at their home in Norfolk, London played a significant role in their special day. Jessie described their home as a historic house from the 1500s, which they fell in love with.
They incorporated their favorite local Dalston café, the Towpath, into their wedding catering. Jessie shared a fond memory of having a keg of Guinness and cheese toasties from the café on their big day.
