Jelly Roll’s Weight Loss Journey

Jelly Roll, the artist behind ‘I Am Not Okay,’ has been open about his weight loss journey, recently revealing he’s shed nearly 300 pounds. Despite assumptions that he might have used GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy, popular among celebrities, Jelly Roll insists he didn’t.

Jelly Roll’s Approach to Weight Loss

In an interview with Men’s Health, Jelly Roll shared that everyone was recommending GLP-1s to him, but he chose not to use them out of fear. Instead, he combined a diet and exercise routine with therapy to address his food addiction.

“I’ve mistreated my body so badly, I can’t believe God has given me this voice for this long. I didn’t deserve it,” he admitted, explaining his decision to avoid GLP-1 drugs.

Addressing Food Addiction

Jelly Roll emphasized the importance of treating his food addiction seriously. “I started treating my food addiction like what it was: an addiction,” he said. “I didn’t look at the food addiction differently. Once I started treating food like an addiction, it started changing everything for me.”

The Impact of Weight on His Life

Reflecting on the challenges he faced due to his weight, Jelly Roll described the “never-ending sadness” and “anger” that came with it. “I was a prisoner to my own body,” he recalled. “Every decision I made in life had to be based on my weight.”

He also shared how his weight affected his personal life, including his relationship with his wife. “I was so fat that there came a moment in life that my wife and I had to put two queen beds beside each other because we couldn’t fit in a king bed anymore,” he said.

Jelly Roll’s Family Life

Jelly Roll, born Jason Bradley DeFord in Antioch, Tennessee, has been married to podcaster Bunnie Xo since 2016. The couple has two children, Bailee Ann, 17, and Noah, 9, from previous relationships.
