Expert Tips from Herbalife Nutrition: Making Workouts a Lifestyle

In a recent event held in Minsk, fitness and nutrition experts gathered to share their insights on how to make workouts a part of your daily life. The discussion covered various topics, including the importance of having a trainer, choosing the right diet, and finding the motivation to start and maintain a fitness routine. The experts from Herbalife Nutrition, Samantha Clayton, Pavel Fatyhov, and Elena Govorova, shared their philosophy on harmonious self-improvement.

The Importance of Support in Fitness

When embarking on a fitness journey, one of the initial hurdles is the lack of support. Having a mentor or a support system can be crucial in the early stages. This support can come from a trainer, family, or even an online group. The key is to have someone to be accountable to, ensuring that you stay committed to your workouts.

“I believe that having support is very important,” says Samantha Clayton, Vice President of Fitness and Sports at Herbalife Nutrition. “It doesn’t necessarily have to be a trainer; it could be your family or a group of people who are doing the same thing. The important thing is to have someone to be accountable to, so you don’t skip your workouts.”

The Role of Nutrition in Fitness

While workouts are a vital part of self-improvement, nutrition plays an equally important role. Proper nutrition and exercise go hand in hand. Samantha Clayton emphasizes the significance of a balanced diet, whether the goal is weight loss, postpartum recovery, or professional athletic training.

“Nutrition is paramount,” says Clayton. “Looking at global trends, we see that most people lead a sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, exercise and physical activity are also very important. To maintain both our mind and body, we need to engage in physical activities. This balance is the core concept of Herbalife Nutrition.”

Debunking Nutrition Myths

The experts also addressed some common myths related to nutrition and exercise. Pavel Fatyhov, an international fitness presenter and expert, debunked the myth that one needs to drink 2-3 liters of water daily.

“An active person might need much more water,” says Fatyhov. “For example, I can drink 5-6 liters of water on a training day. I’m not saying everyone should do the same, but I believe that a person should drink more than 3 liters of water, especially if they exercise at least twice a week. It’s a mistake to think that you shouldn’t drink during a workout; you should always drink water. Before meals, you can drink as much as you want, but after meals, it’s best to wait 20-30 minutes. Water should be just water, not tea or soups.”

The Importance of Sleep

Elena Govorova, an Olympic bronze medalist and fitness expert, highlighted the importance of healthy sleep for effective body work. “You should go to bed at 10-11 PM; this is very important as you will sleep much better,” says Govorova. “Even if you have work-related issues, it will be much easier to wake up earlier and resolve them. What you try to do in the evening, you can do in the morning with greater efficiency. Sleep with the curtains closed and no light in the room, as light affects melatonin production and, consequently, the quality of sleep.”

Finding Motivation

Even with sufficient information on how to train and lead a healthy lifestyle, starting can be challenging due to a lack of internal motivation and improper goal setting. Samantha Clayton explains the two types of motivation: internal and external.

“There are two types of motivation: internal, where you understand that workouts are needed to keep your heart and bones healthy, and external, where you have a group of people you are accountable to,” says Clayton. “For example, as a mother, I have external motivation from my children. I want my children to lead a healthy lifestyle, so I must set an example for them.”

Setting Goals

The most challenging part is being consistent, and it’s crucial to understand why you are engaging in a particular sport. Elena Govorova adds, “The goal should be comprehensive; you can even have a list of goals. For example, an athlete has several motivations: to participate in competitions, to win, not to disappoint fans, and more. There is a big difference between just setting a goal and thinking about it, and writing it down. A written goal is much more likely to motivate you longer and stronger.”

In conclusion, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and harmonious workouts combined with a balanced diet, which can include Herbalife Nutrition products, are the key to this health, according to fitness experts.
