Evan Rachel Wood Accuses Marilyn Manson of Psychological Abuse
In a recent documentary film directed by Amy Berg, actress Evan Rachel Wood detailed her harrowing experiences with Marilyn Manson. Wood accused the musician of psychological abuse and rape during the filming of a music video.
The Allegations
Several months ago, Evan Rachel Wood, the former partner of Marilyn Manson, accused the musician of psychological abuse. She described him as a tormentor and manipulator. Wood kept her silence for a decade, living in fear due to threats from the star. These threats forced her to move from Los Angeles to Nashville. During the investigation, Wood testified that her ex-partner threatened to rape her 8-year-old son.
“I was brainwashed. I don’t want to live in fear of his revenge anymore. It’s time to say that this man is a threat to women,” Wood stated.
The Documentary
The accusations made by the star of the series “Westworld” encouraged others to share their nightmarish experiences with Manson. In November of last year, Rolling Stone published a report based on a nine-month journalistic investigation. The findings were horrifying, with Manson’s inner circle accusing him of physical abuse, rape, and psychological torture. The report also mentioned a shocking practice of punishing women in a “naughty girls’ room.”
Currently, Marilyn Manson is under investigation for sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Despite this, Evan Rachel Wood decided to confront her past traumas and starred in a film dedicated to toxic relationships.
The Film
The documentary, titled “Phoenix Rising – Part I: Don’t Fall,” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, which ran until January 30. The film was directed by Amy Berg, known for her Oscar-nominated 2006 documentary “Deliver Us from Evil,” which explored cases of sexual abuse in the Church.
Berg revealed that the idea for the film with Evan Rachel Wood emerged in 2019, and the final result was far from the initial assumptions.
“It wasn’t supposed to be about Manson and his world. It was meant to be a story like ‘Erin Brockovich.’ We wanted to support women and men who have experienced abuse,” Berg said.
Wood’s Revelations
During the filming, Wood decided to reveal much more than expected. She emphasized that revisiting that period was extremely painful for her, but she felt compelled to do so. She shared her worst experiences with the musician.
Evan Rachel Wood accuses Marilyn Manson of rape. As Wood confessed, in 2007, when she was 19, Manson persuaded her to perform intimate scenes in front of the cameras during the filming of the music video for the song “Heart-Shaped Glasses.” Years later, the actress admitted that she was raped.
“We talked about simulating a sexual scene, but when the cameras started rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I never agreed to that,” Wood said.
The 34-year-old actress revealed that she was traumatized during the filming of the music video.
“I felt that the film crew was uncomfortable and no one knew what to do. This was the first crime he committed against me, and I was raped in front of the cameras,” Wood stated.
The filmmakers contacted Marilyn Manson and asked for his comments on the accusations. The statement from Manson’s lawyers was limited to denying the allegations.
