This Morning Fans Rally Against ‘Unnecessary’ Studio Overhaul
ITV’s beloved daytime show, This Morning, has sparked a wave of criticism from its devoted viewers following a significant studio makeover. The show’s first 2026 broadcast from The H Club Studio in Covent Garden, which also hosts Lorraine and Loose Women, has left many fans voicing their displeasure on social media platforms.
The New Studio Layout
The revamped studio design features a blue sofa on the left and the kitchen area on the right, a notable shift from the show’s previous arrangement. Despite the physical changes, the window-style green screen in the background continues to display a scene of London’s South Bank, which some viewers have labeled ‘unnecessary’.
Viewer Reactions
Viewer reactions have been mixed, with a significant portion expressing their dissatisfaction. One viewer remarked, ‘Really not liking the new studio & the pretend view out the windows is so unnecessary.’ Another added, ‘I prefer the old studio; it’s cozier and looks much better.’ A third viewer commented, ‘It could use a bit more warmth; it looks too cold.’
However, not all feedback was negative. Some viewers welcomed the change, with one stating, ‘No matter what you all say, I prefer the new studio. It feels warmer.’ Another viewer echoed this sentiment, saying, ‘I like the new studio. Don’t know what the fuss is about. It’s plenty of space for what they need.’
Behind the Scenes of the New Studio
The new studio boasts state-of-the-art technology, including a 360-degree set with LED walls. This advanced setup ensures a quick turnaround between shows and maximizes the use of the space. According to ITV, all three programs will be produced more sustainably, utilizing a high-spec remote gallery to broadcast the shows live.
Emma Gormley, Managing Director of ITV Studios Daytime, commented on the change: ‘As we move towards more cutting-edge and efficient ways to produce Daytime shows in 2026, this transition to The H Club studio offers state-of-the-art technology that we can use across our programs to create shows that are distinctive—with a look and feel that are familiar to and loved by our viewers.’
The Bigger Picture
The move to the new studio is part of a larger transformation within ITV’s Daytime schedule. Good Morning Britain has relocated from Television Centre to ITN headquarters in central London. Additionally, Good Morning Britain has been extended by half an hour, while Lorraine has been reduced to 30 minutes for 30 weeks of the year. This Morning continues to air in its usual 10 am-12:30 pm weekday slot, followed by Loose Women from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
Last year, ITV announced budget cuts to its flagship daytime shows, which could potentially result in the loss of 220 jobs, nearly half of the 450 employees who produce content across all four programs.
