Goldie Hawn and Her Towering Grandson Ryder Celebrate His 22nd Birthday

Kate Hudson’s son, Ryder, celebrated his 22nd birthday on January 7, surrounded by his proud grandmother, Goldie Hawn. Despite Goldie’s iconic status in Hollywood, she looked almost petite standing next to her towering grandson.

The actress, known for her role in Song Sung Blue, shared a heartwarming family photo on her Instagram Stories. In the picture, Ryder, dressed in a grey sweater and dark jeans, stands tall beside his stepmother Camille Robinson, his mother Kate, and his grandmother Goldie.

Back in 2020, Kate revealed that Ryder is 6 feet tall. During an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show, Kate mentioned, “My son – you’re so distracting. My teen just came in here. He’s six feet [tall].” Rachael added that he was “way taller” than Kate.

Blended Family Dynamics

Kate had Ryder when she was just 24 years old and married to Chris Robinson, the lead singer of the Black Crowes. The couple was married from 2000 to 2007. Goldie Hawn has two other children: Bingham, 14, with her ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and Rani Rose, 7, with her current fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

Kate has spoken about embracing her blended family in an interview with People. “We are very connected, and we are very close. Love can change form. There’s so much love for all the kids,” she shared. “In this very patchwork family, we all have figured it out… The kids feel like they have this huge family.”

Above all, Kate wants her children to be free and happy. “Just to make tons of mistakes and have fun and be rebellious,” she explained. “Don’t let anybody tell you how to do your thing, you know? Be good people – that’s all I care about, and have real self-possession.”

Grandmother Goldie

Between her three children – Kate, Oliver, and Wyatt – Goldie is a grandmother to eight grandchildren. Oliver previously told US Weekly that his parents are “amazing” as grandparents. “My parents are amazing grandparents. We’re a very tight family. We all live very close to each other. They’re amazing people, amazing grandparents, amazing parents,” he shared.
