Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction, Turns to Crowdfunding for Help
By Nicola Conville | January 5, 2026
Current Situation
Mickey Rourke, the renowned actor, is facing potential eviction due to unpaid rent. The 73-year-old allegedly owes nearly $60,000 in rent at his Los Angeles residence and was served an eviction notice last month. The notice gave him just three days to pay the outstanding balance or vacate the property.
Crowdfunding Campaign
In response to this urgent situation, a GoFundMe campaign titled Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home was launched on January 4. Organized by Liya-Joelle Jones, a friend and part of Rourke’s management team, the fundraiser aims to raise $100,000. It has already raised close to $6,000 within its first few hours online.
The campaign describes Rourke’s situation as a challenging financial moment
that has placed his housing at risk. The goal is to help the actor cover immediate housing-related expenses and get him back on his feet.
Legal Details
Legal documents show that Rourke signed the lease for his three-bedroom, 1,600-square-foot property in March 2025. The monthly rent started at $5,200 and later increased to $7,000. The landlord is now seeking payment of the back rent, along with attorney fees and termination of the lease.
Career Background
Rourke’s career has seen significant highs and lows. He rose to fame in the 1980s with roles in films such as Diner and Angel Heart, becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading men. His career momentum stalled due to personal struggles and injuries sustained during his time as a professional boxer.
He made a critical comeback with The Wrestler, earning an Academy Award nomination and renewed industry respect. In recent years, he has remained a pop-culture figure through reality television, including a controversial stint on Celebrity Big Brother UK.
Since then, Rourke has largely kept a low public profile and has not publicly commented on his current financial or housing situation.
