Effortless Baked Brie Appetizer: A Crowd-Pleasing Delight

Are you in a pinch for a delightful holiday appetizer or simply enjoying a cozy night in with family? This is my go-to, foolproof recipe that never fails to impress. The first time I whipped up this baked brie appetizer, I was pleasantly surprised when even the pickiest eaters couldn’t get enough. Plus, it’s a breeze to make, with just 5 minutes of prep time and minimal cleanup. The secret? Using a canister of crescent rolls for the shell, which cuts down on prep work. I’ve also noticed that I never bring any leftovers home, a sure sign of its popularity, and I’m often asked for the recipe.

Customize to Your Taste

Feel free to experiment with different fruits or even a compote instead of apples. I’ve tried it with brown sugar instead of cinnamon, but I prefer the warm, spicy flavor of cinnamon. It’s all about personal preference with this recipe. The best part? You can serve it with crackers if you’d like, but the crescent roll is the perfect vehicle for the deliciously ooey-gooey brie. I like to keep any leftover apple slices to serve with the finished product because they’re great for scooping up any stray cheese.

Perfect for Any Occasion

So, if you find yourself needing a delicious dish this holiday (or any time of the year), consider trying out this baked brie appetizer. Have fun with it, but don’t expect to bring any home with you!

Easy Baked Brie Appetizer Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Brie Round
  • 1 canister of crescent rolls
  • Medium apple (I prefer Braeburn or Fuji)
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 Egg
  • Crackers (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Scrape away part of the rind from the brie and discard it. (You can choose to keep all of the rind if you prefer, but I find that it’s easier to eat if you remove part of it.)
  3. Slice the apples thinly, about 1/4-inch thick or less.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll and seal any seams between the individual crescent triangles.
  5. Place the brie in the center of the sheet of crescent roll.
  6. Cover the top of the brie with a layer of apples. Keep any extras to eat with the finished recipe.
  7. Sprinkle the top of the apples and brie with a bit of cinnamon.
  8. Fold the crescent sheet over the brie and seal any seams or gaps.
  9. Beat your egg in a small dish, then brush the crescent with the egg wash. Sprinkle cinnamon over the top of the entire crescent to taste.
  10. Place the crescent/brie bundle on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent is golden brown.
  11. Serve with excess apples and crackers.

More Brie, Please!

If you can’t get enough brie in your life but aren’t sure how to properly cook it, I highly recommend investing in a brie baker. My mom, Elaine, got me one of these for Christmas a few years ago, and it’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. It makes it easy to get a perfectly baked brie and is very easy to use.

My favorite tasty treat? I scrape off most of the rind, then slice the brie in half horizontally and stuff it with minced garlic. I bake it, then serve it with crackers or toasted French bread for a perfect garlic-and-brie experience with minimal cleanup. If you don’t have a brie baker, go ahead and treat yourself for the holidays. You won’t regret it!
