Tatyana Prokhorenko: A Life Dedicated to Music and Passion

Tatyana Prokhorenko, a renowned artist of the First Production Company, finalist of the musical show “Factor.by” (in R. Alehno’s team), and soloist of the National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus named after M.Ya. Finberg, shares her journey of finding joy in work and life. This talented singer discusses her career, her views on beauty standards, and her participation in various vocal and sports competitions.

“Hard Work Beats Talent”: A Career in Music

Tatyana’s conscious life has been dedicated to music and vocals. She jokes that she learned to sing before she could talk. Her talent was noticed and nurtured by her mother, who played a crucial role in her professional upbringing and journey to becoming a singer.

“Playing the piano and engaging in music were not just my parents’ wishes but also my own. I was good at it and found it incredibly interesting!”, Tatyana recalls.

Her entire family is creatively inclined. Her sisters are pianists with master’s degrees, her brother plays and composes music, and her father and grandfather were talented artists. One of her sisters became a painter.

Tatyana strongly recommends music lessons for all children. She believes that anyone can learn to sing at any age with enough time and effort. “Hard work beats talent. Without constant diligent work, you cannot achieve the desired results”, she emphasizes.

There were moments when Tatyana considered leaving singing to try her hand at something else, primarily due to financial challenges. “It’s tough for musicians to make a living. However, my path to the stage and fame hasn’t been as thorny as it usually is for artists. Everything has moved logically, strategically, and gradually. I am confident that finding joy in work is possible, and that’s exactly what I do.”

“My World Crumbled in an Instant”: Losing Her Voice

At a certain point in her musical career, Tatyana faced the need for surgery on her vocal cords. “I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sing again. I had dedicated my entire life to singing, and the thought of losing it was terrifying. My world crumbled in an instant”, she shares.

The recovery after the surgery was long and arduous. For about a month, Tatyana couldn’t speak at all. Soon after, she had to return to work and sing in the orchestra. Gradually, her voice began to return. Full recovery took about six months.

“What helped me cope? I simply continued to strive for the big stage, maintaining a positive attitude. I believed that being able to sing again was a victory over the circumstances.”

“I Was Too Young to Be Upset”: Childhood Competitions and Eurovision

Tatyana participated in numerous vocal competitions throughout her childhood, traveling across the country with her mother. “Participating in the Junior Eurovision is my brightest childhood memory. Emotionally, it wasn’t easy to handle the competitions. I had to endure constant defeats, but I was too young to be upset about it”, she recalls.

Undoubtedly, her participation in the musical shows “X-Factor Belarus” and “Factor.by” were memorable events.

“Even with Perfect 90-60-90 Proportions, You Can Look Bad”: On Beauty

Sports hold a significant place in Tatyana’s life, second only to singing. Once, she stumbled upon an application for the “Fitness Bikini” competition and decided to give it a try. She won a bronze medal.

“I recommend sports to everyone. As we age, we lose muscle mass, and it’s essential to engage in activities that develop our muscles to maintain a healthy body. Start with anything. The key is to find an activity you enjoy.”

Tatyana pays great attention to her appearance but doesn’t chase after standard beauty norms. “Regarding the 90-60-90 proportions, I believe they are not universal and don’t suit everyone. Important factors include height, body fat percentage, muscle tone, and skin condition, all of which can vary. Even with perfect 90-60-90 proportions, you can look bad”, she explains.
