On the day of the interview, I spent nearly three hours in the brand’s creative studio. I met several clients with Catherine who were purchasing spring T-shirts adorned with prints recognizable throughout the city. I shared smiles with her daughter, Yasna, and in between, we calmly discussed the brand, beauty, and self-love. This is the life “in the flow” of the renowned designer, Catherine Bezrukova.

Upscaling, the art of transforming used materials into something new and beautiful, is a topic close to Catherine’s heart. It’s a concept that aligns with sustainable development and the preservation of our planet’s resources. This idea was the foundation of her brand, TIKOTA UNIQUE. In 2012, she pioneered the concept in her country, proving that used clothing could be both desirable and fashionable. She achieved this through redesigning, repainting, drawing on fabric, decorating, and organizing unique photoshoots for her collections.

Today, the trend of conscious consumption has gained significant traction. The upcoming collection she plans to unveil soon will also feature elements of upscaling. Although she doesn’t use the term often, it holds a special place in her heart as it’s intertwined with the story of her brand’s inception and her personal growth.

Yoga entered Catherine’s life about eight years ago. Although her teachers didn’t stay long, they played a significant role in her journey. Currently, she practices the Sun Salutation in the mornings, sometimes alone, sometimes with her husband, who serves as her instructor due to his extensive experience.
