Top 10 Music Releases to Look Forward to in 2018
As the new year rolls in, the music industry is gearing up for an exciting journey. From style icons to underground rappers, musicians across the globe are working on new albums that will set the tone for 2018. Here are the top 10 music releases to look forward to in the coming year.
Charli XCX
Charli XCX teased us with her single ‘Boys’ and a music video featuring a hundred of the most attractive men from all corners of the earth. The singer stated that she needs a couple more months to finish her album, although she has enough material for four more albums.
Fall Out Boy – Mania
The band has been open about their new album in interviews, revealing that it will include a song about Britney Spears, ‘Young and Menace,’ and an electro-rock song ‘Champion.’ The group is exploring new sounds, combining music from different eras while trying to maintain their unique style. The album is set to release on January 19th.
Craig David – The Time is Now
The sweet-voiced singer has prepared numerous collaborations that will see the light of day on January 26th. He claims that these songs will be popular for many years to come.
Major Lazer – Music Is The Weapon
These electronic musicians have already presented many of their collaborations that will be on the album. Their joint work with Scriptonite is a standout hit for us. The album will also include collaborative singles with The Weekend and Travis Scott, as well as summer hits ‘Cold Water’ and ‘Know No Better.’ While none of the songs may surprise or shock us, we are sure to enjoy listening to them.
Nicky Minaj
Queen Nicki is a constant presence in the charts and regularly releases collaborative tracks. Her fans hardly have time to miss her, with joint works with Beyoncé, Drake, and Ariana Grande. Any track with her participation secures a good position, but we haven’t heard solo compositions from her in three years. We hope that in the spring, Nicki will delight us with her sparkling rap.
MGMT – Little Dark Age
The electronic musicians gave us a taste of two tracks from the upcoming album at summer festivals. They are very proud of their work and admit that creating music has captivated them as strongly as when they first formed the group.
Muse
The musicians started talking about this album back in September 2015 and promised a radically new sound. However, they have also stated that the album ‘Drones’ would be their last. The reason is that people’s attitude towards music has changed significantly in recent years. However, Matthew Bellamy confirmed in fall interviews that the album will indeed happen. We are looking forward to a hit even bigger than ‘Supermassive Black Hole.’
Metallica
The new studio album promises to be the most grand event of 2018. It will be the 11th work in the group’s existence, and people close to the musicians say that the release promises to be extremely interesting. The group has already stated that the tracks will have different durations: from classic three-minute songs to lengthy compositions characteristic of metallists.
Pharaoh
The underground Russian rapper Pharaoh also promises to delight fans of cloud music with a debut album—until now, he has only released singles and unofficial releases. It was a surprise to me that the album will be in a rock style, as it radically differs from his best hits ‘Wild, for example’ and ‘In Dead Nikes.’ Forget about the parodies of his videos and numerous memes, and subscribe to the rapper’s official YouTube channel.
BTS
The South Korean boy band exploded onto the American charts this fall, and they have already become the most anticipated artists on the stages of New York and Los Angeles. Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel literally fought for the Asian heartthrobs to participate in their shows—the group’s schedule is too packed. The guys experiment with genres: their tracks have enough rock, underground recitatives, and even electronic bass. The new album promises to be just as explosive.
