Sea&Sky: Your Gateway to an Authentic Odessa Experience

Sea&Sky offers designer apartments with a sea view, tailored for travelers and creative souls seeking aesthetics, authentic experiences, and a genuine connection with Odessa. Each apartment is unique, with the founder, an interior designer, personally involved in every project. Unlike traditional apartment hotels, Sea&Sky does not have its own building; instead, its apartments are scattered across various residential complexes in the Arkadia district. This setup allows guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and live among Odessa’s residents.

Introducing the New 161 Apartments by Sea&Sky

Sea&Sky recently announced the launch of their new apartments. We had the opportunity to speak with the founder about the unique features of apt_161 and the inspiration behind its design.

The Birth of a Unique Space

The idea for this space was born out of a desire to be closer to nature, the sea, and oneself. The goal was to create a tranquil environment, moving away from the usual style with sharp, contrasting elements. Odessa, as seen through the founder’s eyes, is a sanctuary—a place of quiet and restoration. The aim was to design a space that doesn’t demand attention but is attentive to you, much like a secluded beach.

The Palette Formation

This project is highly “material-driven,” with textures guiding the space. The key reference for material selection was the rocky stone from Odessa’s coastline—warm, reddish, and slightly faded. This natural element inspired the entire color palette and material choices.

Bathing with a View

The apartment features a bathtub in front of a window with a sea view and an open shower. For some, this might seem bold, but the intention was to create a space that encourages a different kind of relaxation. This design is not just about aesthetics; it’s about a specific type of retreat. Some people prefer structured environments, like public beaches with set rules. Others seek freedom and choose secluded beaches where they can shed their inhibitions. This space invites guests to engage in an honest connection—through the body, light, and simplicity.

Challenges and Triumphs

The most challenging aspect of the project was working with natural materials. These materials require delicate handling, time, and a clear understanding of how to use them. However, the team knew the desired effect from the start, making the effort worthwhile. These materials not only look beautiful but also age gracefully, adding to the overall concept.

The hardest part was selecting the floor stone. Nothing suitable was found in Ukraine, so the team sourced tiles from a small Italian manufacturer that had never shipped to Ukraine before. The long wait and complex logistics were worth the result.

Sea&Sky Merchandise

Sea&Sky recently introduced its first merchandise—bathrobes that serve as unique souvenirs from Odessa. These robes, resembling fishing nets, are designed to capture moments of comfort and relaxation.

September’s Stay at Sea&Sky

Our team chose to stay at Sea&Sky Apartments during a recent trip to Odessa. We were looking for a place that was both beautiful and safe, with parking and a location that hadn’t experienced recent incidents. Sea&Sky exceeded our expectations with its stunning sea views, beautiful apartments, excellent location, and seamless communication. It was more than just a work trip; it was a chance to truly enjoy the vibrant essence of Odessa.
