Diana Gurtskaya’s Son: A Spitting Image of His Late Father

Diana Gurtskaya and Her Son’s Tradition

Attending ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Bolshoi Theatre in late December or early January is a long-standing tradition for many Russians, especially celebrities. Diana Gurtskaya is no exception. Recently, the artist visited the iconic ballet with her son Konstantin and later shared a series of touching photos on her blog. The images show her posing with her grown-up son, their friends, and some archival photos from the Bolshoi Theatre taken a few years ago when they attended the performance as a whole family, including her late husband Petr Kucherenko.

A Family Tradition

‘Seeing out the old year and welcoming the new one is a true ceremony that combines the mystery of miracles and family traditions. One such tradition is attending the iconic ballet ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Bolshoi Theatre with members of my large, beloved family. By the will of fate and the immense efforts of hundreds of caring people, I have attended this historically significant ballet twice recently, but the thrill of being in such a symbolic place remains unchanged. The walls of this theatre allow our glorious family tradition to live and prosper—just as my husband, who once paved the way to this wonderful fairy tale, would have wanted, breathing magic into our own destiny. It’s amazing that the memory of your important little things lives on even where ‘The Nutcracker’ creates New Year’s magic every December,’ Diana wrote in her post.

Konstantin’s Growth and Resemblance

Fans couldn’t help but notice how much Konstantin has grown and matured. It’s no surprise—this year he became a student at one of the country’s most prestigious universities. But what amazed his followers the most was his striking resemblance to his father, Petr Kucherenko. In the new photos, the 18-year-old looks like his father’s true copy.

Konstantin’s Life and Choices

Diana Gurtskaya and Petr Kucherenko’s son was born on June 29, 2007. Interestingly, the parents initially wanted to name him differently: Diana liked the name Georgiy, and Petr insisted on German. They eventually compromised on Konstantin. As a child, the boy was completely healthy, but as he approached school age, he began to have vision problems, so now he wears glasses or contact lenses.

Konstantin has shown an interest in music since childhood and once even wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps. After graduating from music school, he secretly applied to the famous Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. Diana gently hinted that laureates usually enter there, but her son was confident in his abilities. And he succeeded—he passed the selection. His father, by the way, was skeptical about his son’s choice. Petr believed that due to the increased attention and competition in the world of art, children of celebrities have a tough time.

Alongside his studies, Konstantin developed his streaming channel and managed a social media group, gradually gaining an audience. In 2023, he participated in the show ‘Two Stars. Fathers and Children’ with his mother, but after his father’s tragic death, the duo left the project and abruptly changed their plans.

This academic year, Konstantin took an important step in his life. The young man entered the Faculty of International Law at MGIMO and decided to follow in his late father’s footsteps. The singer supported her son’s professional choice but reminded him in an interview with the press that he has another strong suit—music:

‘He enrolled at MGIMO this year. He loves music, graduated from music school with honors, and plays well. If he chooses music, I will, of course, be glad, but he must choose for himself; I will not advise. It’s his life, and he will live with the profession he chooses. Wherever he is happy, I will also be happy.’

Recall that in May 2023, Diana Gurtskaya’s family happiness was tragically cut short. Her husband, Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Russia Petr Kucherenko, died on his way back from a business trip to Cuba. He felt unwell on the island, and during the flight, the man suffered an aortic rupture. The plane made an emergency landing in Mineralnye Vody, but the doctors could not help. Petr Kucherenko was only 46 years old.
