Andy Murray Scores Big: £193k Profit from Cromlix Hotel After Retirement
Andy Murray’s Successful Venture into Hotel Ownership
Tennis legend Andy Murray, who retired in 2024, has swapped his tennis racket for a hotel ledger. Alongside his wife Kim, Andy purchased the Cromlix House Hotel in Scotland back in 2013 for £1.8 million. After years of financial ups and downs, the couple celebrated a impressive profit of £193,379 last year.
A Turnaround for the Murrays
This financial success is a welcome change for Andy and Kim, who faced losses for two consecutive years, as reported by the MailOnline. Until 2022, the couple relied on a management company to run the hotel, but they decided to take control themselves. With Andy’s retirement, he now has more time to devote to the business.
Accolades and Renovation
Not only are the finances looking up, but the Cromlix House Hotel was also named Hotel of the Year at the 2024 AA Hospitality Awards. It boasts an impressive 4.7-star rating from 962 Google reviews, with guests describing their stays as “unforgettable,” “excellent,” and “superb.”
The hotel holds a special place in the Murray family’s heart. It’s where Andy and Kim celebrated their wedding reception in 2015, and where Andy’s brother Jamie tied the knot in 2010. The property even features an on-site chapel for public weddings.
Currently, the hotel is closed for major renovations, including the addition of a wellness facility. It’s set to reopen on May 15, just in time for the summer rush. The hotel team shared on Instagram, “Today marks the start of an exciting few months as we close for the next stage of our transformation.”
Experience Cromlix House Hotel
Our Deputy Online Editor, Sharnaz Shahid, had the pleasure of staying at this luxury retreat. She praised the hotel’s vibrant interiors as “contemporary and chic,” yet still offering a “home away from home” feel. The 34-acre estate features numerous tennis courts, a billiards room, and a glasshouse restaurant.
Sharnaz noted, “I was delighted with the classic preparation and presentation of the food, which was predominantly British with a touch of European influence, and generous in portion size.”
Cromlix offers an early bird special starting from £328 for an overnight stay and full Scottish breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located near Dunblane, Stirling, and just 36 miles from Glasgow.
