5 Must-Read Books Before They Hit the Big Screen
I’m one of those people who believe that books are often better than their movie adaptations. However, I must admit that some films do surpass their original sources. I’ve compiled a list of intriguing books that are set to become fantastic movies next year, and you should definitely read them before watching the films.
The Invisible Man – H.G. Wells
This book is well-known among science fiction enthusiasts and isn’t new to the market. However, it’s worth re-reading before we see the film adaptation starring Johnny Depp as the lead character. The story revolves around Dr. Jack Griffin, who is about to experiment with a new drug that turns him invisible, but it also drives him to madness. I can’t wait to see how Johnny Depp will portray this complex character. This is definitely a must-read and must-watch.
Dark Reflections – Alexandra Bracken
If you’re a fan of the TV series ‘Stranger Things,’ this book will be a perfect way to spend your evenings. During an epidemic, 98% of the world’s children perish, and the surviving ones develop supernatural abilities. The most dangerous children are eliminated, while the rest are placed in concentration camps. The film adaptation is expected to hit theaters next September.
All the Bright Places – Jennifer Niven
Reading a touching love story is an excellent way to unwind and escape from the pressures of daily life. Violet and Finch meet when the girl decides to end her life by jumping off a tower. But young love has other plans. The book’s trailer is already impressive and inspiring. This is definitely worth adding to your reading list.
Annihilation – Jeff VanderMeer
Natalie Portman will star in the film adaptation of this book, and the director of ‘Ex Machina’ will helm the project. These are the main reasons to read the original story. Four women must enter Area X for an investigation. Before them, there were 11 expeditions, and none were successful. The situation intensifies when a woman ventures into the mysterious area to find out what killed her husband.
The Black Hand – Stefan Talty
The book’s description isn’t typically what I’d choose for an evening read. However, the news that Leonardo DiCaprio will produce and star in the film adaptation made me reconsider. The story delves into the early days of the Italian mafia in America. The narrative style vaguely resembles ‘Sherlock Holmes,’ with a relentless New York cop on the trail of a ruthless gang. Perhaps DiCaprio will play the cop; who knows?
Don’t miss out on these incredible books before their film adaptations hit the big screen. Each story offers a unique and captivating experience that you won’t want to miss.
